Â鶹´«Ã½'s radio station, WÂ鶹´«Ã½, will broadcast its first-ever live radio play Friday from noon-1:30 p.m. It will also be the world premiere of the production, "Squeleton and its Double," written, translated and adapted for the occasion by Chinese-Quebecois author Ying Chen.

Chen collaborated on the project with Peter Schulman, Â鶹´«Ã½ professor of French and International studies.

"She was a guest writer at the Â鶹´«Ã½ Literary Festival a few years ago and we discussed theater and how much she's always wanted to write a play then," Schulman said. "I told her we had great theater majors here that could do it, and so she translated a book of hers we both liked and made a play out of it."

The play stars Â鶹´«Ã½ alumni Mayteanna Colon and Ruzzie Degirmenci.

Shulman said a more traditional production was scrapped after recognizing "it would be more effective as a radio play, a retro but original idea."

"When I approached WÂ鶹´«Ã½ about it, they thought it was original enough to take a chance on it," Schulman said.
